Professional Experience

    Assist principal investigators, post-doctoral fellows, and other research staff to develop, and submit protocols to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), providing staff training for protocol submission software, managing protocol renewals and amendments, and analyzing protocol submissions to ensure requirement completion.

    Update the content of the IACUC website, conduct post-approval monitoring of animal research activities, and prepare reports detailing findings and corrective actions to the IACUC administrator.

    Ensure that all personnel working with animals have received appropriate training, and medical clearance. Perform semiannual inspections in laboratories and the animal facility.

    Assist in reviewing program description, adverse events reports, protocol deviation reports, and institutional policies.

    Performed de-paraffinization and immunohistochemical staining of prostate and lymph node tissue cultures, treating tissue slides with antibodies to localize/assess protein production in cancer growth, and conducting protein western blot from cancer cells to derive statistical correlation between aberrant protein expression and cancer progression.

    Ensured animal welfare by conducting twice daily checks in all assigned rooms, monitoring temperature, humidity, and food and water availability, and cleaning cages and bedding twice per week or more often as needed.

    Report animal births, illness, and death to supervisors and veterinary staff in writing.

    Perform euthanasia of small animals according to institutional and American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) regulations, disposing of carcasses and other biohazardous materials as mandated in approved SOPs.

    Prepared reagents and culturing media for classroom or project use in accordance established scientific protocols, observing sanitation procedures on all workstations and laboratory equipment, ensuring that all plants and cultures maintain suitable conditions, and preparing regular inventories for the supervisor.

    Developed lab guidelines for students and organize MSDS documents, addressing student inquires in the absence of the lab instructor, and capturing lab research data for instructor s further analysis.

    Performed serial dilutions as needed, neutralizing BSL-1 and some BSL-2 pathogens prior to their disposal, inoculating liquid and solid media according to protocol, and providing direction for successful microbial cell lines.

    Prepared electrophoresis gels, Western/Southern Blots, and purified samples through column chromatography.

    Conducted PCR according to established protocols, isolating organelles or proteins of interest through centrifugation.

    Examined water samples from researcher s rain garden using digital spectrophotometers.
