Gained Seized Property Specialist Certification and began supervisory responsibilities for Kingsville station; collected and analyzed core sample data from seized marijuana, which was then sent to laboratory to identify origin. Amended/corrected SEACATS entries and 6051s and corrected/accepted seizure packets; worked closely with towing companies to retrieve seized vehicles. Also participated in SIP training, with access to SIP on WEBSIRS, and conducted SIP on Seized Property.
Served as acting supervisor of 10-person brush crew; developed daily duty assignments, completed needed reports and coordinated infil/exfil operations on daily basis. Served as Field Training Officer teaching trainees on interviewing techniques, evidence gathering, relevant law/regulations and report development/writing. Typically served as Team Leader at assigned checkpoints; responsibilities included checking vehicles for illegal immigrants and narcotics and apprehending individuals utilizing fraudulent documents.
Following arrests collected various data and information to use in further investigative activities; used information as basis for searching databases and other intelligence systems to identify locations where contraband/illegal materials were stored and the vehicles utilized for smuggling. Used information gained from interviewing smuggling guides/aliens to identify specific smuggling routes/trails and place surveillance equipment/cameras along these routes to monitor areas and assist with apprehensions.
Tasked to perform night time surveillance on storage/stash houses to collect data on other involved individuals as well as follow smuggling vehicles to gain information on loading areas. Following arrests searched through social media such as Facebook to identify acquaintances, then utilized ELMO database to collect pertinent information and analyze to gain additional information. Also searched arrested individuals cell phones for other pertinent information, which was used to analyze and identify smuggling routes/loading areas. Following arrests, collected and analyzed information/data from vehicles to develop time frame and important location information.
Developed investigative reports that documented all data collected and statements from principals and witnesses; developed reports and submitted to federal prosecutor to assist with prosecution of case. Was often called on to provide courtroom testimony to successfully prosecute individuals.
