Supervise 30 case workers for a Homelessness Diversion Unit tasked with providing short-term family counseling and diversion services to prevent homelessness for its constituent client population.
Process and interview applicants to assess risk factors for potential homelessness that may arise due to substance abuse, alcoholism, domestic violence, unemployment, eviction, fire or storm destruction.
Provide housing solutions, conducting field visits to homes to review conditions; exploring housing options, gathering relevant information from extended family and employers, assisting participants with housing search services, and referring cases to the Rental Assistance Unit for processing EOSD packets.
Collaborate with ACS, Adult Protective Services, Victims Services, and domestic violence advocates, in resolving social service cases, while referring clients with mental health issues such as clinical depression, bipolar disorder and suicidal ideation and basic necessity issues to sister agencies for counseling and healthcare intervention.
